Black and White Contrast

I love sitting on my deck and watching the weather roll in.  Here in No Eastern Colorado the weather has been pretty stormy lately. They call in Monsoonal - I call it Annoying.  Just when you can get outside to do something - here comes the Lightening.

I decided to make the best of it, and stay close to the door for that "Just in Case" moment!!

This one above it my Favorite. That sun is really trying hard to get in front of those clouds.

In this one - the colors just struck me. That little bit of sun behind one fluffy clousd - hiding from all the mean ones....

The Great Outdoors

We headed up to the high country to see if we could at least get to 75 degrees
and of course do a little hiking

That big plume - behind the shack -that is smoke from the Beaver Creek Fire.
When we were there, the Fire Department was just announcing it had reached 18,000 acres
and it just keeps growing

THIS! This was our destination
and oh my - what a beautiful place
not a soul in sight!

Flowers

Flowers - they are everywhere, and so much fun to see the detail on.  One of my challenges was about Macro Photography. There is more to it that this - but basically - get close.

When you are tall - getting close is an athletic event I tell you - but I tried.  I did get close, and I got far away - here are some that I liked:

This one is probably my favorite
The wind was making it wave a little, so I have a few blurry ones.
I finally captured it though - persistence right?

These two were taken in Denver ( above and below)
Getting close was hard, there were rocks in the way, and bees.
I'm allergic to bees

Below
I found this one on a fishing trip.
I know - I should have been fishing, but! there are so many things to photograph!

And just for fun

Silhouettes and Sunsets

I have been practicing sitting in the same place for a time period, rather than roaming around, and focusing on what I can see.....

Sunsets offer a lot of variety!

Just looking off of my deck

and then turning just a bit to the south

and the sunsets make the best Silhouettes

Enjoy your Sunsets!

Downtown Denver

We headed south to Denver for a Family Wedding, and I took my camera!  We walked around downtown Denver for a little bit - you know - to stretch our legs before sitting again.

Here is what I saw:

I really love old buildings - and Denver did not disappoint!

Even though this one says butter - those emblems sort of remind me of the Masons.

What is a trip to Downtown without checking out Union Station?
There were quite a lot of people around - hard to get a straight on shot

I loved the cloud build up behind this building

And of course, the Ice House - right where we were heading

That was a fun way to spend some time!

The Country

Last week we studied Elements.  Although I already showed you my submission - I had a LOT of other photos. And I really enjoyed playing with them too.

Here are a few more of my favorites:

This is a ditch
It's the way the water gets to the fields
Due to lots of snow and rain they are running pretty good!

This ( below)
Is probably A thistle flower
and really a weed
I liked the way the sun shone on it - and the highlights

Enjoy!!!
