Ghost Towns in Colorado

Just to the east of us - there is a Ghost Town
It was founded as a Negro Colony and grew quite large for plains towns

When the dust bowl came it essentially wiped out the town.

Here are a few of the remains:

This is definitely a Road LEss Traveled

  3. Fascinating information and great pictures; would love to know more about this place (i.e., directions) as we have kids who live in Colorado and love to visit and explore your beautiful state. (Actually, they love to explore even when we're not visiting.)

  4. I love your photos of the road less travelled. The other two photos remind me of my much younger years when my brother and I would explore the countryside within a reasonable distance of our house. We often (but not very often) found abandoned houses, mostly small ones, in the hills and valleys nearby. Anything within cycling distance, for sure. My brother was very brave about venturing into the abandoned buildings, but I held back until he could assure me there were no spiders or snakes!
