Watching the Storm come in

 

We got a warning that a storm was coming - and it was going to be a big wind event.

Living on the plains - we could totally see it as it rolled in.

and boy - did we get the wind!!

Even though this is my view while fixing fences.... it sure makes the work not so hard....

Wildlife

 I've not been this close to such a large ram before. He was SO cool to see.

Colorado Rocky Mountains

 I had a chance to go West this weekend... and I did!

it was beautifully sunny, slightly windy, and just a great all around day!

The new one

 We got a new little Mare on our place - and she is a kick!

When we first got her she was a little shy, but now she sees me coming, and knows the gate is about to be open to the pasture.... and she gets a bit excited....  its cute!

See - she is watching me and saying... come on....

and this is why!!

I leave her some yummy hay to eat before she heads out to the big pasture

The way the sun hits the mountains adds a lot of depth from my View

I am down in the corrals looking up - 

but I thought it was such a pretty angle and made the mountain range look even more massive!

Fluffy Cat

 out here on the ranch we have a lot of Barn Cats... some were ours, some have been abandoned and now live with us... I won't turn an animal away....

This is Fluffy cat!

and this is our collection of Barn cats

They actually have 3 barns to be in

two are 3 sided and one is heated 

I think that might be why strays appear

( I hate to think of the other ways I know they come to the ranch)

Bird Visitors

I had a Visitor! 

he flew by the kitchen window, and divebombed the horse corralls - then decided to sit and watch me!

Tree Stumps

 

I can not tell you why - but one of my most favorite things to photograph - is... Stumps... Maybe because I knew they were a tree at one time?

This area of the forest we were hiking in was burned in 2009 and again in 2020 - it was amazing how many things were there from the last burn.

Powdered Sugar Trees

While we were hiking in - it was snowing - and it looked like the trees were covered with Powdered Sugar...

The Black and White image - made it more Powdery to me!

Antique Styled Lake

We took a hike before a snow storm moved in , and it was so great to be able to walk around this lake.

It was very serene, and truly - just what we needed in the locked down world. We didn't see people, we stayed in our own group - and - it was good for the soul.

Doesn't that just say "Peace" to you?
