The old Cabin

In my travels this last week I saw this really cool old cabin :

can you imagine living there?  There was no running water or power to it - but the area was gorgeous!

The view from my road

The way the sun hits the mountains adds a lot of depth from my View

I am down in the corrals looking up -

but I thought it was such a pretty angle and made the mountain range look even more massive!

Tree Stumps

I can not tell you why - but one of my most favorite things to photograph - is... Stumps... Maybe because I knew they were a tree at one time?

This area of the forest we were hiking in was burned in 2009 and again in 2020 - it was amazing how many things were there from the last burn.

Antique Styled Lake

We took a hike before a snow storm moved in , and it was so great to be able to walk around this lake.

It was very serene, and truly - just what we needed in the locked down world. We didn't see people, we stayed in our own group - and - it was good for the soul.

Doesn't that just say "Peace" to you?

In Phone editing - and the times of Covid

Our lesson this week was on in phone editing. I thought I knew what you could do in the phone, as I have a love for pushing buttons and experimenting, but I learned a few more things about my phone - so that was great.

We were supposed to use these new skills and create a photo with the *in times of Covid* theme.

First - we live on the edge of nowhere, so what people see in town and in communities - we only see on the news.

Second - our biggest change has been everyone coming back home as colleges moved to online learning.

Third - we love to get outdoors - so most of my photos of *in times of covid* are out door photos...

So here is my submission for this challenge:

And By the way
.

Day 10 - March 2019 - Moro Rock

Remember my LOVE for Black and white?
.
When I saw the way the light was shining on this trail,
I knew I wanted it to be a Black and White photo.
.
I might also take it in color too.... just in case
.
but in this case
.
I love how the B&W turned out!

A short Hiking Trip

There are a few trails that I can not wait to take to the end  - but knowing that some of them still have a lot of snow pack slows me down a bit... not much - but a bit

We headed up to the Rockies to one of the trails I want to take in the summer.... to see what it was like.

This is down at the bottom - A lot of snow - and it was quite chilly. the snow even started falling on us - beautiful

as we hiked up - the snowpack over the rivers was just too cool!

its amazing that water still runs underneath

But there is green starting to show -

Lunch stop - as we hiked farther up -it got warmer... that was wierd!

My favorite
Take the Road less Traveled

Happy Hiking!

I really liked the way this White Streak
Cut across the moody clouds

I bet the plane didn't know what kind of mark he was making

Ghost Towns in Colorado

Just to the east of us - there is a Ghost Town
It was founded as a Negro Colony and grew quite large for plains towns

When the dust bowl came it essentially wiped out the town.

Here are a few of the remains:

This is definitely a Road LEss Traveled

Black and White Lettering

One of our Photo Assignments was to learn about Typeface and Lettering in the signage - So my family and I took a little walk downtown to the older area of town - and I had a great time!

This was one of my Favorites

The two different Typefaces really caught my eye, I liked how one was flat against the Building and the other was hanging out

More Time in the Mountains

I am adding on to my previous post about Black and White.
I think the white really highlights some of the beauty of this land.

We are in Rocky Mountain National Park
This is one of my favorite places to visit

There is damage from fires, damage from beetles, yet there is new growth all around

The skies are constantly changing
On this particular hike we experienced all four seasons in 8 hours

As much as I love Black and White
I hope you will enjoy the amazing colors as well of this landscape

Black and White Contrast

I love sitting on my deck and watching the weather roll in.  Here in No Eastern Colorado the weather has been pretty stormy lately. They call in Monsoonal - I call it Annoying.  Just when you can get outside to do something - here comes the Lightening.

I decided to make the best of it, and stay close to the door for that "Just in Case" moment!!

This one above it my Favorite. That sun is really trying hard to get in front of those clouds.

In this one - the colors just struck me. That little bit of sun behind one fluffy clousd - hiding from all the mean ones....

Downtown Denver

We headed south to Denver for a Family Wedding, and I took my camera!  We walked around downtown Denver for a little bit - you know - to stretch our legs before sitting again.

Here is what I saw:

I really love old buildings - and Denver did not disappoint!

Even though this one says butter - those emblems sort of remind me of the Masons.

What is a trip to Downtown without checking out Union Station?
There were quite a lot of people around - hard to get a straight on shot

I loved the cloud build up behind this building

And of course, the Ice House - right where we were heading

That was a fun way to spend some time!

The Country

Last week we studied Elements.  Although I already showed you my submission - I had a LOT of other photos. And I really enjoyed playing with them too.

Here are a few more of my favorites:

This is a ditch
It's the way the water gets to the fields
Due to lots of snow and rain they are running pretty good!

This ( below)
Is probably A thistle flower
and really a weed
I liked the way the sun shone on it - and the highlights

Enjoy!!!

Taking it to the Streets

I had a chance to head to DownTown and just hang around. I really like Street Photography, as it just captures the here and now. However - I am still a little nervous pulling out my camera when I am not a tourist.

Here is what I saw:

This little boys was having such a fantastic time
But check out the ladies in the background
I think they might have been.... well .... not ;-)

A different angle.
I was really focused on the Ben and Jerry's
Ice Cream sounded real good - but I think that is the same boy
Oh to have that much fun!

This musician was just fantastic
So much fun to listen to
I sort of had a giggle about the statue behind him though

And of course, I was in Old Town
The place of a thousand mictobrews
So you just have to catch a delivery truck somehow right?

I hope you enjoyed my little trip to Old Town!
I sure did, and I got some Ben and Jerrys out of it as well!
