Trees In Colorado

The weather around here sure changes quickly. I was out working and just LOVED the way this tree was framed by the weather and sky.

Within 20 minutes of getting back to the house,
we had an ice storm and the roads were almost unpassable

Black and White Lettering

One of our Photo Assignments was to learn about Typeface and Lettering in the signage - So my family and I took a little walk downtown to the older area of town - and I had a great time!

This was one of my Favorites

The two different Typefaces really caught my eye, I liked how one was flat against the Building and the other was hanging out

A Quilty Panorama

Thankful November:  I am thankful to have a place to spread my wings, and the creativity to try

One of our Pasture gates - The colors are so drab right now - but the blues are quite bright!

Sunshine on the Weeds

It is hard to think you can find something to be thankful about when all you see across your pastures is brown - however - when you walk through the brown and really look.... Beauty is there:

At first my husband told me it was all in the eye of the beholder .
after seeing my point of view - he agrees - it is still pretty

Sunrises

Looking east over my ranch provides some amazing SunRises!

I like to watch the Sun Come up - however - sometimes the work that follows wears me out - HA!

Hiking

I seem to be drawn to the drama of color,
or lack of color while hiking.

This stunted tree is sitting on the top of a rock and was framed so neatly by the clouds in the sky

I am Thankful for the ability to get outside....

Trees

Thankful November 2016 :  I thought this would be a great way to post Photos of the things I am Thankful for - and to head out and see more of my state!

I love Trees - they are just so majestic and always offer something to see:

The Drama of Black and White Amazes me!

The Bear

I am thankful that we have the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado. I love to head out there and just watch the animals and see them happy in a habitat closer to real life that the captivity they were in.

He just looks so happy and relaxed - and maybe he is doing a little Yoga before dinner?

And the Tigers
They are just amazing to watch how they walk and command your attention!

Mother Nature in Colorado

Every once in a while it is fun to take a drive through the places you live:

I think fall is definitely in the air
We have already had two nights that got to 32deg
but nice warm day with blue clouds

This bridge is one of my favorite places to visit
Over the last 15 years the changes have really been amazing
There was no traffic and nice fields,
and then they drilled some Natural Gas/Oil wells
Boy did that change the environment ( and not for the better)

Fall Colors are the best

Ground Perspective

In another Challenge Group - the Challenge was to get a photo from a Ground Perspective.

When you are as tall as I am - that ground sure is a long way down!!  I was at my sons Cross Country meet, and all the kids were running over a hill. I thought "This is my chance"  I only had to get down 3/4 of the way and got a cool perspective!

That's my kid ( he is nice to allow me to photograph him)  and I like him ;-)

Letters in Life

One of the Photo groups I am in - had the challenge to find our name in Letters as we were out and about.  THIS!! Was a challenge... It was hard for me to see the letters, but I got better as I kept practicing  - and this is my name:

Hopefully you will give me leniency on the L  - Ha ha ha!!

More Time in the Mountains

I am adding on to my previous post about Black and White.
I think the white really highlights some of the beauty of this land.

We are in Rocky Mountain National Park
This is one of my favorite places to visit

There is damage from fires, damage from beetles, yet there is new growth all around

The skies are constantly changing
On this particular hike we experienced all four seasons in 8 hours

As much as I love Black and White
I hope you will enjoy the amazing colors as well of this landscape

Black And White Landscape

There is just something about Black and White photography that lures me in.
I love looking at all the Ansel Adams books
I love trying to create my own unique images

This last month has been Outdoor/Wildlife month for me
and I couldn't love it more
Above: an Aspen in the high country of Colorado

A storm was moving in, so the background was almost all clouds

Waterfalls

As we were hiking up
This ranger was riding down
What a cool thing to see

White on White

This weeks Photo challenge was White on White.

I kept seeing clouds and flowers and all sorts of things - when I didn't have my camera

And then - I was sitting at the local roping - and I kept seeing cowboy hats - and I had a vision.....

I like what I did, I wish I could have made it whiter

Tigers

They are just SO majestic... I could sit and stare for hours.... as long as I was in a safe spot!

Aren't they amazing?

Silhouettes

One of our photo assignments was "Silhouettes"

I thought that humorous as a few weeks before I had tried to take one of my son, and thought I had succeeded - and then when it was an assignment , I couldn't do what I wanted to do.... Go figure right?

The bear is what I submitted for my assignment
He was at the Wild Animal Sanctuary, and was under a bridge. I like the shadow.
And then I edited it ( a lot) to give it a dramatic look.
Not my favorite - but - I tried

And then the next day ( after the assignment was due)
This beauty posed for me.

And I looked up the hill
and BAM!! THIS was there - I wish it had been there a day before

Good thing is - I love to take photos!
Enjoy!!

Wild Animal Sanctuary

In Colorado, there is a place called the Wild Animal Sanctuary - and I LOVE it there.

One of my long distance Camera Lenses broke, and I had to send it in to be fixed, so I used an older lens, that I haven't had much practice on.  I find that going out and really focusing on using that one lens really helps me get the feel of it.... so 500 photos later.... I love it again.

Here are some of my favorite shots of the day at the Sanctuary

Lions:

Check out the look on that guys face!!

He says to the top lion "Seriously , dude, what did you eat????"

Tigers:

These two were just too cute

And then their tongues - oh wow - I would run!

and!!!

Bears:

Look at how intent he is - He made it into the pool, now I think he is playig Bear Ninja Games in his mind and trying to figure out how to get through the tire!

And he says - THAT is MY hat!!! I dare you to take it from me!!

See - Lions and Tigers and Bears - Oh My!

Black and White Contrast

I love sitting on my deck and watching the weather roll in.  Here in No Eastern Colorado the weather has been pretty stormy lately. They call in Monsoonal - I call it Annoying.  Just when you can get outside to do something - here comes the Lightening.

I decided to make the best of it, and stay close to the door for that "Just in Case" moment!!

This one above it my Favorite. That sun is really trying hard to get in front of those clouds.

In this one - the colors just struck me. That little bit of sun behind one fluffy clousd - hiding from all the mean ones....
